Ka‘anapali 2020: Making It Pono

In early 1999, ten community members agreed to take on the community-based planning process for all of Ka‘anapali Development Corp.'s (formerly Amfac) 4,000± acres in Honokowai to help create the vision for the proposed Ka‘anapali 2020 development. An experienced facilitator and planning consultant were selected. A Future Search Conference entitled "Ka‘anapali 2020: Making It Pono" was set with eight community stakeholder groups: Ka‘anapali Development Corp., Business & Commerce, Community Organizations, Cultural Heritage, Environment, Government, Social Services and Unions. Each stakeholder group contained eight members. So began the process of creating a common vision for the year 2020.
